Turkey has introduced a chain of assaults towards Kurdish objectives within the north of Syria on Saturday night time and Sunday, in retaliation for a terrorist assault in Istanbul closing week.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has in depth contacts within the area, reported the casualty figures, together with Syrian infantrymen, a journalist, and Kurdish opponents.
The moves principally focused the northern town of Kobane and its atmosphere close to the Turkish border, together with grain silos close to Al-Malikiyahand and an influence plant in a space managed via the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
“These attacks by the Turkish occupation state will not go unanswered. At the appropriate time and place, we will respond with force and effectiveness,” the SDF reacted in a commentary.
The Turkish operation, referred to as “Sword Claw”, targets to “eliminate terrorist attacks in northern Iraq and Syria, ensure border security and eliminate terrorism at its source”, the Turkish Defence Ministry mentioned.
Turkey, whose infantrymen occupy spaces of northern Syria, has been threatening since May to release a brand new offensive towards the SDF, which it considers “terrorist”.
