Indian-Origin Teen Crashes Stolen Range Rover In UK: Scotland Yard said on Tuesday that an Indian-origin teenager was sentenced to four years in prison for wrongly driving a stolen Range Rover into a tunnel in London and then hitting another vehicle head-on. Johal Rathore, 18, was identified last year by the Metropolitan Police’s Road and Transport Policing Command after causing an accident in the early hours of 6 August and sentenced last Friday at St Albans Crown Court in north London. The Metropolitan Police said that “fortunately” the driver of the Mercedes van did not suffer any serious injuries.

Police Constable Adam Lamb, the investigating officer in the case, said, “Rathore was guilty of incredibly dangerous driving and it was a miracle that no one was seriously injured. Very disturbing to see a video of him driving erratically in the tunnel.” Because it seems inevitable that a fatal collision will occur. The court was told that the Mercedes van that Rathore collided with a stolen Range Rover caused a loss of GBP 80,000. Due to the closure of the busy Blackwall Tunnel in east London for more than two hours during peak hours, it also caused a total loss of revenue of GBP 585,000 for transport to London.

Rathore had fled from the accident spot
Rathore fled the accident spot, but was later arrested after police officials identified him and tracked his mobile phone. After being charged with the offenses of theft and dangerous driving, Rathore failed to appear in court.

Later Rathore was tracked and arrested by the Met Police officers from the East Area Command Unit in January this year.
