Telecom Customers: Due to the better performance of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, the total number of telecom subscribers in March 2022 increased to more than 116.69 crores. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) gave this information in its monthly report. During this, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio added new customers in the mobile phone as well as the fixed line service segment.
TRAI’s customer report has growth figures
TRAI’s customer report said, “The number of telecom subscribers in India increased to 1,16.69 million at the end of March, 2022, from 116.60 million at the end of February, 2022.” The TRAI report said. That between March and February, urban telephone subscribers declined from 64.77 crore to 64.71 crore, while rural subscribers increased from 51.82 crore to 51.98 crore during this period. According to the report, the total number of wireless subscribers increased to 1142 million in March, from 114.15 million in February.
Increase in customer base of Bharti Airtel and Jio
In the same month, the number of customers of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio increased. In March, the net number of mobile subscribers of Airtel grew by 22.55 lakhs, while for Jio this figure was 12.6 lakhs.
These companies lost customers – BSNL also included
Vodafone Idea netted more than 28.18 lakh mobile customers during this period. Public sector telcos BSNL and MTNL lost 1.27 lakh and 3,101 mobile subscribers respectively.
