Srilanka Crisis: In Sri Lanka, on Friday, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned along with the entire cabinet. There is an emergency in the country amid economic crisis and demonstration. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tweeted. Gotabaya said that steps would be taken to form a new government to prevent anarchy in the country and to maintain the affairs of the stalled state.

He said that the new PM of Sri Lanka will be appointed within a week. He said that the new government will be given a chance to present a new program and will be given the right to take the country forward. In addition, steps will be taken to amend the Constitution to re-enact the contents of the 19th Amendment to make Parliament more empowered.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa said calls from various factions to abolish the post of working president would be considered. With the new government and their ability to stabilize the country, we will have an opportunity to discuss this and work towards a consensus.
