Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: The situation in India’s neighboring country Sri Lanka is getting worse. Even after the Emergency in the country, the situation has not improved. Inflation is at its peak. Due to inflation and weak currency in the country, the prices of things used in daily life are skyrocketing, in such a situation the life of common people has become difficult. Alina Fernando, a citizen of Sri Lanka, told ABP, “At present, the people of Sri Lanka are facing many kinds of crises. He told, people do not have money, the prices of all the things that are not earning are increasing continuously. The prices of daily food items are also touching the sky.

He told, the prices of vegetables, fruits and essential items of the house have also doubled to three times. When ABP had a conversation with Chandana, who runs a fruit shop, he said, due to the economic crisis, the price of fruits has doubled to three times for example.

  • Apple- before 350- 1200 now
  • Mango- earlier 350- 700 now
  • Orange- earlier 400-800 now
  • Pineapple- before 200-400 now
  • Grapes – before 1200-1800 now

After that we reached the vegetable shop. When we talked about the prices of vegetables there, Sira, who was there, told us in Hindi, what has been the effect on the prices of vegetables.

  • Potato – now 340- 250 before
  • Tomato – now 850-280 ago
  • Carrot – now 440-220 ago
  • Capsicum – now 850- 650 ago
  • Cabbage – now 850-650 ago
  • Brinjal – now 480- 180 ago

Sira told that earlier if a person used to take one kilo of goods, then now he is taking half a kilo. Not only this, we are also getting less goods because the price of diesel has increased. The condition is that I am unable to get money even to pay my employees. People are scared because vegetables are very expensive. Earlier, they used to do home delivery of vegetables too, but since the price of diesel has increased, they are not doing home delivery either. If the situation remains the same, then what will happen next month, we cannot even say anything.
