DRS in Ranji Trophy 2022: Does the world’s richest cricket board ‘BCCI’ not have money to install DRS system in domestic tournaments? Or DRS is not being applied even in big domestic tournaments like Ranji Trophy to save money? These are some of the questions that are currently dominating social media. In this entire season of Ranji Trophy, whenever cricket fans have doubts about the decision of the umpires, then such posts have been coming on social media. The latest ruckus has arisen after giving not out to Sarfaraz Khan despite being clearly out.
Actually, on the first day of the final match of Ranji Trophy, there was a strong appeal of LBW against Sarfaraz Khan. Madhya Pradesh fast bowler Gaurav Yadav was quite sure that Sarfaraz was out but the umpire gave him not out. There was no DRS here, so there was no question of taking a review. In such a situation, Sarfaraz remained on the crease. Later, he took Mumbai beyond 350 by scoring a century. Had this wicket been found, the situation could have been different.
After this big lapse in the final of Ranji Trophy, BCCI is getting a lot of criticism on social media for not implementing DRS system in domestic tournaments. Cricket fans are writing clearly whether BCCI did not put DRS system in Ranji Trophy to save money.
Nth lament of ‘Why is there no DRS in Ranji Trophy’. Gourav Yadav nips one back into Sarfaraz, who’s only half step forward. Hit on the flap, on back pad. Looks close, close – so close. Not given.
The best batsman across the last two Ranji seasons, potentially gets a life.

BCCI made Rs 48,390 crore in its new IPL telecast deal but doesn’t have money for DRS in the Ranji Trophy final. What a shame. @SGanguly99

TOI has done a report on this matter. In this, the source has been told that, ‘Wiring and derigging of all the equipment used in DRS is very expensive. Hawk eye means needing many more cameras. Ranji matches are played with very limited equipment and then even half-hearted DRS is of no use. As last time it was just DRS to see if the edge of the bat is engaged or not. You could not figure out in which direction the ball was going, which is very important for DRS.
Any idea why there is no Drs in Ranji semis. R the reasons financial?

Although BCCI can argue in this matter that they have faith in the umpires, but fans can also question here that if this is the case then what is the need of DRS in IPL and international level matches too. However, right now it seems that BCCI is showing skimp in this matter.
