Shot Put National Record: Indian athlete Manpreet Kaur returned to the Games last year after facing a four-year ban for doping. Now this senior athlete has broken his own national record in shot put. Manpreet has broken his old record in the ongoing National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships in Chennai.

Manpreet threw 18.06m in the fourth attempt. With this, she has become the first woman in India, who has crossed the distance of 18 meters. Earlier, in the year 2015, Kaur had set a national record by throwing 17.96 meters. Let us tell you that this time the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has set a standard of 17.76 meters for Indian players to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.

Ban was imposed in 2017
Manpreet Kaur threw a record distance of 18.86 meters in the year 2017. But his score was removed from the record book after he was found positive in the doping test. The gold he got at the 2017 Asian Championships was also snatched away due to doping. He was banned from 2017 itself, which ended last year. Manpreet then returned to the Games in September 2021.

Himadas won gold in 100 meters race
In this National Interstate Senior Athletics Championships going on in Chennai, Himadas won gold in 100 meters race. He completed the race in 11.43 seconds. He left behind Dutee Chand by a very close margin. Dutee Chand completed this race in 11.44 seconds.
