Lord Jagannath Sick: According to ancient tradition, Lord Jagannath Swami is running ill. After bathing with 108 pots on Jyeshtha Vat Savitri Purnima, Jagannath ji, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra are secluded in the Anasar house of the temple for 15 days due to ill health. - According to the scriptures, the unwell of Lord Jagannath is called his ‘Jwarleela’. Jagannath ji, Dau Balabhadra and sister Subhadra are treated by Ayurveda method while discharging the tradition for 15 days. In such a situation, Ayurvedic decoctions are given to them.
- Dashmooli medicine is prepared for the treatment of God. In which medicine is made by mixing Shala Parni, Bel, Krishna Parni, Gamhari, Agibathu, Lubing Koli, Ankranti, Tigokhara, Phanfana, Sunari, Vrihati and Potli. These herbs are mentioned in Ayurveda.
- According to religious tradition, God has to abstain from eating and drinking since he becomes ill. In such a situation, they will be offered light food items including porridge, khichdi and moong dal.
- According to the belief, the Lord suffers from fever and diarrhoea (vomiting, diarrhea) for 15 days. During this, all the rules that apply to the human body also apply to God. They are fully serviced. Medicines are first given to the Lord to bring down the body temperature and then the oil made from the medicines is massaged.
