Journalist Salary: You must have heard often- Journalism (media) is the fourth pillar of democracy and for this thousands of journalists in the country are united day and night. Be it any event in the country, sad or pleasant, whether there is a calamity or event, political stir or social, journalists are ready to cover all kinds of news. But do you know how much salary a journalist gets for doing this risky job? If not, then here is the information related to it.

According to a survey by Glassdoor, a good journalist gets a monthly salary of up to Rs 30,416 per month. It also includes journalists with experience of up to 1- 5 years. Here we are telling you that how much salary can be received on an average from entry level journalist to journalists with a lot of experience.

For an entry-level journalist or journalist with less than one year’s experience, the average salary in the country works out to Rs 309,126 annually, which includes bonus and overtime pay.

The average salary of early-stage journalists, which includes professionals with 1 to 4 years of experience, works out to Rs 386,091 per annum which does not include overtime and bonus.

Medium experienced journalists whose experience ranges from 5 to 9 years, they earn Rs 486,923 as annual salary.

For journalists with 10 to 15 years of experience, the average income of Rs 450,000 per annum has come out. However, it does not include components like allowances and other bonuses.

For experienced journalists above 19 years, the average salary of more than Rs 2.5 lakh per month has come out and this does not include other components like bonus.

If you look at the salary percentage in different fields of media, then the salary of entry level journalists or professionals is as follows

copy writing 440,000 per annum in Rs.

writing procedure and Rs 375,000 annually in documentation

Media And public relations 303,833 per annum in Rs.

Apart from this, if you look at other statistics, then the gender breakdown in the workplace is as follows

female journalists 35%
