New York Firing: Several people were shot on Saturday afternoon at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, USA. Police said the gunman has been taken into custody. 10 people died in this firing in Top Friendly Market. Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted that she is in contact with officials about the incident at a grocery store in her hometown of Buffalo.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said the man who opened fire has been arrested. He was wearing a helmet. He put the death toll at 10 and three people injured. The police officer said that most of the victims were black. Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said the gunman first shot four people in a supermarket parking lot, killing three of them, then went inside and continued firing.
Among those killed inside the store was a retired police officer working as an armed security guard. The Commissioner of Police said that when the police reached the spot, the shooter put the gun on his neck, but was talked about and eventually surrendered.
Stephen Belongia, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Buffalo field office, said the shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. He said that we are investigating this incident as a case of hate crime.
