IPL 2022: After defeating Mumbai Indians in their last league match, Delhi Capitals were out of the race for the playoffs. Delhi could have won this match but some mistakes cost the team. The biggest mistake among them was not taking a review against Tim David. Actually, Team David could have been out on zero run only but Rishabh Pant did not think it right to challenge the decision of not out of the umpire.
Something happened that in the 15th over, a ball from Shardul Thakur got caught in the hands of Rishabh Pant, taking the outer edge of Tim David’s bat. Catch out appealed but the umpire gave not out. Delhi had a review left but captain Rishabh Pant did not use it. Later replays showed that Tim David was out. Later Tim David played a quick innings of 34 runs in 11 balls. Had Delhi got this big wicket at that time, Delhi could have won this match.
After the match, when Rishabh was questioned on this, his answer was, ‘I thought something had happened but the rest of the players in the circle were not so sure about this. I asked if I should take a review. In the end I did not take the review.
During this, he kept his word even after Delhi Capitals was out of the tournament. Pant said, ‘We were on top most of the time in this match, but despite being on top on some occasions, we let the match go out of our hands. The same thing happened with us throughout this tournament. I think we could not have done much better to compete today. Pant also said that, ‘I think we scored 5-7 runs less. But we bowled very well. However, due to the ons in the last, there was some difficulty.
