Afghanistan Blast: At least one Taliban member was killed and six others, including a civilian, were injured in an explosion in Kunar, Afghanistan. Tolo News quoted local security officials as saying that the blast occurred on Sunday in the town of Asadabad, the center of Kunar, when a landmine exploded under a Taliban forces vehicle.
According to a tweet by Tolo News, local security officials said, “A member of Islamic Emirate forces were killed and 6 others, including a civilian, were injured in an explosion today in Asadabad, the center of Kunar, they said that a landmine was destroyed by the Islamic State.” It was laid under the Emirates vehicle. Witnesses said several civilians were harmed.
Explosions are happening continuously in Afghanistan
Earlier on Saturday, a bomb exploded in Kabul, Afghanistan. Tolo News said in a tweet that the blast took place at Batakh Square in Kabul’s 10th district. Quoting a spokesman for the Kabul police, Afghan media outlets said that several people were killed and several were injured in the blast. According to him, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device fitted in a passenger car.
One such case came to light on Thursday, where five Taliban members and a civilian were killed in an IED blast in the Spin Boldak district of Afghanistan. Earlier on June 6, there was an explosion in Police District-4 of Kabul with explosives kept on a bicycle.
Questions raised on Taliban claim
The Taliban have been claiming that they have secured the country since taking power in August last year, but international agencies and analysts have been questioning the Taliban’s claim. International analysts say terrorism remains at risk of a resurgence in Afghanistan and the Islamic State militant group has claimed several major attacks.
